As a Port Douglas wedding photographer, Friday was my first wedding for 2021! I was so excited to meet Bec and Cam and be a part of their special day at Sea Temple Port Douglas. Bec and Cam and their guests had travelled to Port Douglas for their wedding from places far and wide including South East Queensland and Tasmania!
The previous week and the days leading up to their wedding the weather had been atrocious! Rain, rain and more rain! BUT the day of their wedding the sun shone and the weather was warm. Hooray!
The day started when I met Cam and his family to photograph them getting ready. Cam’s three year old nephew Jack, was keen to have his photo taken and entertained me with his dancing! We had some fun with the photos of Cam’s family and then I headed off to meet Bec and her family on the other side of the Resort.
When I arrived I was pleased to see that the day was running on time. Everyone’s hair and make-up was just about finished. I do love the apartment accommodation at Sea Temple. The rooms are large, bright and airy – a photographers wish list filled! Despite having just awoken from his nap, Bec’s super cute 8 month old nephew Jay-Lewis had the biggest smile for the camera! I shot loads of photos with Bec and Jacqui and their Mum and Dad before I left them to walk down to the ceremony location.
Local Port Douglas wedding celebrant, the lovely Sarah Woods conducted a beautiful ceremony. It was just the right length with just the right amount of funny stories about Cam and Bec. A few happy tears were shed and Jack did a fabulous job of delivering the rings safely. Before long Sarah pronounced them to be husband and wife!
The paperwork formalities followed the ceremony and then we all migrated down to the beach for a group photo with the bride and groom. The flower shower didn’t really go to plan due to the 25 knots of wind blowing up the beach! Its was fun trying though! We took the family and friends photos back up on the boardwalk out of the wind and then it was Cam and Bec, Jacqui and Grant for the bridal party photos on the beach.
The tide was waaaaay out giving us loads of room on the beach for photos. Kite surfers and dog walkers were out enjoying the wonderful weather. Once finished on the beach Cam and Bec and I drove into Port Douglas to take some photos around town, on the rocks near the beach and at Rex Smeal Park. Lots of tourists were enjoying the sunset with a dinner picnic and a dog or two chasing a frisbee.
With all the shots we needed “in the bag” we drove back to the resort for the reception. Scott, the MC had done a great job of keeping the guests away from the table settings until I arrived to photograph them! The reception looked amazing all set up by the pool! Supplied and styled by Kerry from I Do Flowers, the flower arrangements and the bridal flowers for the wedding beautiful.
Cam and Bec’s wedding cake was designed and made by Cakes Annietime and looked delicious! During the meal Cam and Bec and I managed to sneak off for some nigh-time poolside photos. They were very game and were happy to wade into the pool for some photos! Dinner was served, speeches were made, the cake was cut and the bridal waltz followed.
What a fabulous wedding! Thank you for asking me to be your Port Douglas wedding photographer Bec and Cam! It was my pleasure and such a great day! Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful life together. xx
