Serina and Jamie asked me to be their Cairns wedding photographer for their wedding at AJ Hackett Cairns last week.
I love the “first-look” photos! In case you haven’t heard this is where the groom first sets eyes on his beautiful wife-to- be shortly before the ceremony in a lovely private location away from their bridal party and guests. Jamie met Serina at a location near their ceremony for their “first-look” photos. We spent ten minutes taking some lovely photos before we headed up to the ceremony location at AJ Hackett – the local bungy jumping site.
Serina and Jamie and their guests travelled from the Gold Coast for the wedding. It has been raining quite a lot leading up to the day, but on the day the weather was perfect! Not too hot and just a light breeze. Friends and family gathered in the tropical rainforest amphitheatre to witness Serina and Jamie exchange their vows.
Kylie Canty one of our lovely local celebrants, performed a beautiful, funny and very personalised ceremony for Serina and Jamie. Before long she pronounced them to be husband and wife! The obligatory paperwork ensued before congratulations hugs and kisses followed!
A group photo or two with all of the guests was followed by friends and family photos with the bride and groom. After that bridal party photos and then a wander around the rainforest property for some more intimate photos with just Serina and Jamie.
At 5pm is was time for Serina and Jamie to take the plunge and bungy jump off the 50 metre tower together! I made the climb to the top for the pre-jump photos ( my calf muscles did not thank me the next day! ) The view is quite spectacular from up there! Then I high tailed it back to the bottom and their waiting friends and family so I could get photos of them as they plunged towards the lake! And that they did! There was much cheering and yelling from everyone as Serina and Jamie stepped off the platform 50 metres above our heads, holding onto each other as they took a graceful swan dive! It wasn’t as fast as I thought it was going to be and I got some great shots with the rainforest background. Yes, they did stay in their wedding clothes and no, there was not as much screaming from the bride and groom as I expected!
A huge congratulations to Serina and Jamie and thank you for asking me to be your Cairns wedding photographer. It was a pleasure and a really fun afternoon!
