Port Douglas Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Tracey and Gerard on 6th May 2011

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

Tracey and Gerard, came from NSW and were joined by family and friends to celebrate their marriage at the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas on the 6th of May. The ceremony was planned for the beach but as it turned out to be quite windy it was moved to the waterfall at the Sheraton. What a great place to have your ceremony! It was sunny and warm and the waterfall was flowing quite nicely!

Tracey looked absolutely gorgeous in her figure hugging latte coloured gown. Kristy from Blush Hair and Make-up did a fabulous job on Tracey and Kristen’s, her bridesmaid, hair and make-up. Gerard was looking sharp, if a little nervous when I arrived at the ceremony to photograph him and Shane awaiting Tracey’s arrival.

Sarah Woods performed a lovely ceremony which included a ring warming and a vow of fun from the guests! After the ceremony and the official paper work Tracey and Gerard were surrounded by their family and friends for a shower of petals. This always makes an excellent photo! Photos of family and friends with the bride and groom followed. Before too long it was time to jump in the cars and head off for the bridal shoot. First stop, a lovely rainforest creek just out of town, then back into Port to the sugar wharf for some shots on the little beach behind St Mary’s Chapel. Tracey and Gerard were very co-operative, especially when I asked them to traipse through the mudflats so we could get a sunset shot! Which was sooo worth it!!

The reception was held back at the Sheraton outdoor at their “Gilligan’s Island” location. I had the best day with you guys! Thanks for asking me to be your photographer Tracey and Gerard!

Below are some of my favorites from Tracey and Gerard’s wedding day….there were so many favorites! You can check out their on-line album to see more from the day.

Port Douglas Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Claire and John on 28th April 2011

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Claire and John were married by Father Barry at the St Mary’s catholic church in Port Douglas last Thursday. They had traveled from Melbourne with Claire’s family. John’s family traveled all the way from Ireland to join Claire and John to celebrate their special day here in the tropical north.
Claire and Noeleen, her bridesmaid and her Dad arrived at the church right on time! Claire was looking radiant in her white gown with lots of sparkley bits! Claire’s Dad walked her down the aisle to her anxiously waiting husband to be. The ceremony lasted for around an hour. Congratulations were in order at the front of the church before we headed off to take the bridal party photos.
Robert from Cairns Luxury Limousines drove Claire and John, Brendan and Noeleen, following me in my little car to a timber bridge over a lush and cool rainforest creek. Some photos in there before heading back to the beach and the sugar wharf in town.
A short time later we arrived at the Sea Temple Resort and Spa where both families were assembled ready for the family photos. As Claire and John’s wedding was a small affair their reception was held on the roof of the penthouse suite at the Sea Temple. It was a lovely, intimate set up. A few more photos of the cake and then I was off to leave to Claire and John to celebrate their marriage with their family.
Thank you for having me as your photographer Claire and John. It was a great day! I really enjoyed being part of it, meeting you and your families and taking lots of photos!
Below are a few of my favs from the day. You may also like to view Claire and John’s on-line album to see some more images from their special day.

Port Douglas wedding photography – The wedding of Lisa & Daniel on 10th February 2011

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Daniel and Lisa were married on the anniversary of their first date 14 years ago! They chose The Sea Temple Resort and Spa at Port Douglas as the venue for their ceremony and reception. Actually, they were thinking about having their ceremony on Four Mile Beach but due to lots of rain, decided on the undercover poolside location at the Resort.

Lisa was attended by her sister Dani. Dani’s gorgeous curly blonde haired son, Jack was the page boy. Lisa looked stunning in her figure hugging, strapless wedding gown. I took some photos of the girls together, Lisa on her own and with their parents, then I headed off down to take some shots of Daniel awaiting the arrival of his beautiful bride. Daniel’s best man was his friend Gordon and they both looked very handsome in their black suits with frangapani corsages.

Lisa and Daniel’s wedding was a small intimate affair with around 20 guests who had traveled from Brisbane and other parts of the country. Vivian Reid performed their wedding ceremony, which lasted around 20 minutes. As the ceremony finished the rain came bucketing down, making sure there would be no outdoor photos! The guests gathered around Lisa and Daniel for a group shot of everyone in the foyer of the Resort. We took photos of Daniel and Lisa with their friends and family then moved onto the bridal party photo shoot. Photographing in low light and poor weather is always a challenge! I love to step up to the challenge though and try to be creative with what I have to work with. These conditions always make me work harder and smarter! Plus I never leave home without my trusty umbrellas’ in the boot of my car!

I am really happy with the results of my work. I hope you are too Lisa and Daniel! Thank you for having me as your photographer. I really enjoyed sharing your day (except for the bit where I had to walk through ankle deep water to get to Lisa’s room and have wet shoes and feet for the rest of the day!).

Below are a few of my favorite images from Lisa and Daniel’s wedding day. You may like to check out their on-line album to see some more.

Port Douglas Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Tina and Arnold on the 7th January 2011

Monday, January 17th, 2011

My first wedding for 2011 and it was the most gorgeous sunny day with blue skies and no wind! It has set the scene for all weddings for the rest of the year!

It had rained pretty much for the two weeks leading up to Tina and Arnold’s wedding. We even had a very big thunder storm at 2pm the day before their wedding! But on the day we could not have asked for more perfect weather.

I visited Tina and the girls at a house in Port Douglas where they were busy getting ready. I started the photo shoot with some shots of Tina’s dress and shoes. Jennifer from MOD Video’s joined me a short time later to capture the day in full colour! The girls all ready to go, Jennifer and I headed down to the Baler Street location on Four Mile Beach where the ceremony was to be held, to meet  Arnold and the boys, Kay Earl, their celebrant and the wedding guests.

Tina arrived in a stretch limo from Southern Cross Limousines chauffeured by Peter and accompanied by her bridesmaids and her little boy. Tina’s Dad and her son walked her down the aisle to be married to Arnold. Kay did a wonderful ceremony and before long Tina and Arnold were Mr and Mrs! The paperwork completed, we moved on to take the family photos under the shade of the coconut palms next to the beach.

Tina was attended by two of the cutest little flower girls! I couldn’t resist taking a couple of shots of the two of them exploring the beach together. Tina and Arnold joined them with the rest of the bridal party for a walk along the beach and some photos with the calm blue ocean in the background. It was quite warm in the sun so we abandoned the beach and headed out to a rainforest creek  location near Port Douglas for some more photos there.

About half an hour of wandering around the fast flowing creek, over, across and along the newly refurbished timber bridge and it was time to jump back into the limo and head off to the reception at Birdsong B&B.

Tina and Arnold Thank you for being my first wedding for 2011! It was fun! I wish you both all the best for a long and happy future together!

Below are some photos from Tina and Arnolds’ wedding day in Port Douglas. You may also like to see their on-line album.

Port Douglas wedding photography- The Wedding of Trinity and David on 28th August 2010

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Trinity and David had their ceremony at the Sea Temple Golf course in Port Douglas. What a great location! Lots of green everywhere!  The weather was kind to us as well! It had been raining earlier in the morning, but cleared up by lunchtime.

I arrived at 2.30, half an hour before the planned 3pm ceremony, to take some photos of David and the groomsmen awaiting the arrival of his bride.

Caroline, the wedding co-ordinator from the Sea Temple Resort and I met Trinity and the girls at the cub house entrance shortly after 3pm. Family and friends watched Trinity walk down the aisle on the arm of her Dad, who shared a joke with David as he passed his daughters hand to David to take in marriage.

A really lovely ceremony was performed by Kerrie Burkin, including a sand ceremony and a reading by David’s sister. After the ceremony the paper work was filled out, making David and Trinity’s marriage official! Kerrie introduced them as Mr and Mrs which was met with loud applause and plenty of hugs and kisses!

We gathered all of the guests around Trinity and David for a group photo and flower shower, followed by photos of Trinity and David with their family and friends. The formalities over, we warmed up the photo session with a walk along the path leading away from the first hole! There were a few golfers out, so we had to dodge speeding buggies and frantic players trying to get to the club house!

The landscaping is fantastic and includes a small rainforest pocket with a lovely timber boardwalk inside. We got some great shots inside there!

From the golf course we headed down to the sugar wharf in town to take some photos at the small beach near the Chapel and on the actual wharf. A wedding reception was set up at the far end of the wharf, so we could only use part of it. The white timber wall is very cool for photos! By the time we finished it was almost dark and time for Trinity and David and the bridal party to head back to the reception at the Sea Temple Resort.

I enjoyed being part of your special day Trinity and David, thank you for asking me! I wish you all the best for a happy life together!

Below are some of my favorite shots from the day. Check out Trinity and David’s on-line album to view all of their wedding photos.
