Port Douglas wedding Photography – Vicky and Paul at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas on 3rd November 2011

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Vicky and Paul came with their kids all the way from New Zealand to be married on Four Mile Beach outside the Sheraton Mirage at Port Douglas. The ceremony was at 10.30 in the morning and they could not have chosen a better day! It was warm and sunny with a slight cooling breeze. Sarah Woods performed the ceremony with myself and Melanie, the hair and make-up artist acting as witnesses.

After the ceremony we took lots of photos walking on the beach with the kids, then moved into the shade for some nice family photos together.

It was such a nice, warm and sunny day that Vicky decided that it was the perfect time to go for a swim…in her wedding dress! We walked around the pool, not all 5 acres of it, but most of it, to find a deep spot for Vicky to take the plunge….and she did! The water looked so inviting! It was hard to keep the kids out of the pool in their good clothes!

Here are two of my favorite shots from Vicky and Paul’s wedding. Congratulations to Vicky and Paul and thank you for having me as your photographer! It was fun!

Trash the Dress with Berto & Alena

Friday, July 9th, 2010

The day after their wedding I drove back to Port Douglas and picked up Alena and Berto from the Sheraton at 9.30am. They had donned their wedding clothes again ready to be “trashed”! Alena had her make-up done for the shoot and her gorgeous long hair was left out.

We drove to a lovely rainforest creek north of Port Douglas for the photo shoot. We found a lush green cane paddock to do some warm up shots, then we headed over to the creek. The water was crystal clear and flowing nicely. Not too cold, although by the end of the session everyone was a little shivery! (including me!)

Once again Alena and Berto were a pleasure to photograph and we had lots of fun! The location is just stunning and they both fitted in well! Alena was quite game and did everything I asked of her! Standing a top a tree stump high above the river and laying along a fallen tree across the river were both a bit of a challenge in a wedding dress! Which, by the way, seemed to fair quite well after a dunking in the creek!

I love the photos of Alena standing on the log with her veil moving in the breeze! and my favorite is number 4 below. the water reflecting back up makes the light on their faces just right!

Thank you for having me along for a “Trash” session Alena and Berto, it was my pleasure!

Here are a few shots from the day. You can see some more at their on-line album.
