Port Douglas wedding photography Shay and Chris’ wedding at Silky Oaks Lodge on 24th January 2012

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Shae and Chris chose the luxurious and lush tropical rainforest location of Silky Oaks Lodge to get married. Sarah Woods conducted a lovely intimate ceremony on the deck, overlooking the fast flowing clear waters of the Mossman River. Being rainforest…..it was raining! The wonderful steady rain of the wet season here in North Queensland enveloped the balcony as Shay and Chris exchanged their vows.

Colin from MOD Videos captured the small affair for posterity and along with Michelle the Lodges’ wedding co-ordinator, witnessed Shay and Chris’ marriage. With all the paperwork complete we ventured out from under cover to take some photos in the rainforest and by the river.

The rain held off while we wandered around the property shooting photos and video. Then we headed back to the deck where the staff had installed a lovely private little dinner setting on the edge of the balcony to enhance the view of the river below. Shay and Chris cut their delicious smelling, devine looking chocolate and strawberry covered wedding cake for a photo, before I said good bye and left them to enjoy their romantic celebration dinner for two.

Thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer and share this special day with you Chris and Shay, it was a fun afternoon! Best wishes and congratulations to you both!

Here is my favorite photo from their wedding day, you may also like to have a look at Shay and Chris’ on-line album.

Port Douglas wedding Photography – Gleb and Anna at Thala Beach Lodge 18th January 2012

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Anna and Gleb came from Russia for their ceremony at Thala Beach Lodge. Anna looked stunning in the dress she had bought from North Queensland Bridal only the day before!
The weather was a bit touch and go with showers all around. The ceremony was held inside the resort with lovely words and poems of love by Kay Earl. Angie supplied the sparkling wine for the after ceremony celebration before we boarded the golf buggy for a photo tour around the resort and down to the beach.

We climbed all over and around the rocks at the beach with me trying to learn some Russian words along the way! Unsuccessfully I might add! Black storm clouds were rolling in from the North and the thunder was letting us know it was on its way! We managed to get through all the photos before running up the beach to seek shelter under the tin shack! A few photos with the shack then a bolt up the hill to the waiting buggy!

Back at the resort I left Anna and Gleb to enjoy the rest of their afternoon with drinks and dinner on the upper deck with a stunning view over the Coral Sea. It was a fun afternoon thanks to Angie, Gleb and Anna! Best wishes to Anna and Gleb for a long and happy life together with lots more adventures!

Here is my favorite photo from the afternoon.

Palm Cove wedding photography – Debbie and David at Sea Temple Palm Cove on 31st December 2011

Friday, January 6th, 2012

My very last wedding for 2011……..Debbie and David came all the way from the UK with their three gorgeous children to renew their vows on the beach outside Sea Temple Resort at Palm Cove. They had originally booked to have the ceremony on the Friday but the weather was pretty horrible with lots of heavy rain, so we all agreed to change the day to Saturday…New Year’s Eve!

Saturday was lovely and sunny with blue skies…phew! Jan Defferard performed the ceremony with Fran and David from Palm Cove weddings, along with Debbie and David’s children, acting as witnesses. Debbie looked stunning in her latte coloured wedding gown. She actually owns a bridal shop in the UK and so had the pick of dresses for her special day!

A fun photo shoot on the beach and around the resort followed the ceremony. It was a really lovely and fun afternoon. Congratulations to Debbie and David and thank you for asking me to be part of this special day for you all here in sunny North Queensland, it was my pleasure!

Below is a lovely photo of Debbie and David taken in front of the Resort.

Port Douglas wedding photography – Rebecca and Clifton at Thala Beach Lodge on 31st December 2011

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Rebecca and Clifton came from country Victoria to be married in an intimate ceremony on the balcony at Thala Beach Lodge near Port Douglas. The weather had been pretty ordinary with lots of heavy rain a few days before, so it was a relief to see the sun shining down enthusiastically on the morning of their wedding!

Jan Defferard performed their ceremony with Angie, from Thala and myself acting as witnesses. After the official paperwork was all signed and sealed, Angie drove us around the Resort in a golf buggy for the photo shoot. It was quite windy down on the beach but we were not deterred from rock climbing to get some awesome shots! Rebecca and Clif did well to negotiate the rocky headland in their wedding clothes!

Back up to the restaurant for the cake cutting, before I left Rebecca and Clif to enjoy their celebratory lunch, the rest of their day and New Year’s Eve.

Congratulations Rebecca and Clifton and best wishes to you both for a long and happy life together.

Here is a my favorite photo from the afternoon and a video of the day. You may also like to check out their on-line album.

Cairns and Port Douglas wedding photography – 2011 in review

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

2011 was a busy year for me and 2012 is looking good! I put together this 5 minute video of some of my favorite images from weddings and other shoots I have done this year. It was a difficult task to get it down to five minutes! A big thank you to all my lovely brides and grooms, pregnant Mum’s and Dad’s and families I have photographed through out the year….it was my absolute pleasure to photograph every single one of you and capture these special moments in your lives. Thank you for trusting me with this important task. I am passionate about photography and so privileged that I can do something that I love so much as a full time job. Enjoy the video!
