Palm Cove wedding photography – The Wedding of Natalie and Daniel on 18th September 2010

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Natalie and Daniel chose to have their wedding ceremony and reception at Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club. It really is the perfect location with everything all in the one place.

Natalie and her sisters aka bridesmaids,  got ready at the Resort Hotel right next door to the club house. When I arrived at the room the girls were just about ready to go! They had been into Cairns to have their hair and make-up done by Blondies at their salon and were back in plenty of time. Stress levels were low and the girls were enjoying a glass of champagne, while Ally, the gorgeous and cheeky flower girl, contented herself with cartoons on the tele!

I took some photos of Nat’s dress, flowers, shoes and jewellery. Zoe and Tamsin helped Nat get into her dress. Natalie was stunning! Looking as though she had just stepped from the pages of a bridal magazine!  We got on with taking some photos of Nat, then Nat with all the girls. Nat’s parents arrived shortly after ready for photos with Nat. We finished in plenty of time for me to get over to the boys to take some shots of them before the girls arrived.

The past few weddings I have photographed at the golf course this year it has been raining and we have had to have the ceremony indoors. Not today….there were a few clouds hanging on top of the mountain but the sky was relatively clear. The ceremony was held outside under the timber, Bali style gazebo. Daniel and his brother, Scott were greeting their guest as they arrived. I took a few quick shots of them before the guests started to gather for the ceremony.

Natalie arrived in a golf cart escorted by her Dad. Zoe and Tamsin bought Ally along in another golf cart. The girls alighted and while we took a few quick photos Ally decided it might be nice to take the golf cart for a drive on her own! Luckily there was another golf cart in front of hers so she didn’t get far!

A lovely ceremony was performed by Vivian Reid, with a reading by Daniel’s sister. After the ceremony the paperwork was completed and Vivian introduced the new Mr and Mrs! Congratulations all round was followed by a group photo with all the guests and then individual family photos with Nat and Daniel.

Katie, the wedding supervisor, arranged some golf carts and a very helpful guide for us for the photo tour of the golf course. First stop was the 7th hole on top of the hill! The view from up there is pretty cool! We continued on around the course dodging golf players and their carts. We ended up back at the clubhouse in plenty of time for everyone to freshen up and get ready for the reception. That’s where I left Nat and Daniel to head up stairs to the celebrations and a great night ahead.

Thank you for having me as your photographer for this special day in your lives Natalie and Daniel. It was a lot of fun! You guys were all really easy to photograph! Below are some of my favorite images from the day. You can see some more at Natalie and Daniel’s on-line album.

Palm Cove wedding photography – The Wedding of Olivia and Ivan on 14th September 2010

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Olivia and Ivan eloped from chilli Tasmania to be married beachfront at tropical Palm Cove.

When they arrived the day before it was bucketing with rain! The afternoon of their wedding the sun came out and we had lovely blue skies! Phew!

Olivia’s sister Jenny, came up from Townsville to witness the marriage. She also read a lovely poem at the ceremony, which was performed by Vivian Reid.

After the ceremony we went for a walk along the palm tree lined Esplanade in front of Angsana Resort, taking photos as we went. From there, we headed down to the jetty at the Northern end of Palm Cove beach.

We walked along the beach and explored around the rocky outcrop. Once Olivia and Ivan had worked up sufficient sweat climbing up and down and over the rocks, it was time to TRASH the dress! Olivia wanted to do this from the start and it was fun! The 15 knot breeze washed up some nice big waves to crash over them as I had them rolling around on the beach at the low tide mark! Before long they were both soaked through, covered in sand and enjoying the cool water!

I headed off shortly after, leaving them to put their sopping wet wedding clothes into a garbage bag and don some fresh attire for their evening dinner of celebration in town.

Thank you for being brave enough to “TRASH” , Olivia and Ivan! It was fun! It was also my pleasure to photograph your wedding and Trash session, so thank you for asking me! Below are a few of my favorites from the day. Check out their on-line album to see the rest of Olivia and Ivan’s photos from their wedding day.

Yungaburrra wedding photography – The Wedding of David and Robyn on 12th September 2010

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

David and Robyn came from Brisbane to be married in the gorgeous Chapel at Yungaburra. They were joined by many family and friends from all over to witness their 2pm ceremony. Once again the weather was touch and go but showed us a glorious afternoon.

Marion Reid performed a lovely ceremony for David and Robyn. There were lots of happy tears! The paperwork complete, David and Robyn were pronounced husband and wife and then heartily congratulated by family and friends!

Outside the chapel we took a group photo of all the guests with Robyn and David, individual photos with Robyn and David and then a flower shower photo.

Jennifer from MOD videos was there to capture the day in full colour moving pictures! We always work well together and I have no hesitation in recommending MOD Video’s to any couple thinking about having a videographer on their wedding day.

From the Chapel we moved down to Eden House where the reception was to be held. We took some photos in and around the lush tropical gardens of the lavishly restored historic homestead. We then headed up into the main street of Yungaburra where there are lots more wonderfully restored buildings, a stone wall and a fabulous red barn!

We finished the photo shoot right on time and made our way back to the reception where the guests were mingling with drinks and canapes. I left David and Robyn to celebrate their marriage amongst their guests and headed home.

David and Robyn, thank you for putting your trust in me to capture your special day. It was my pleasure and lots of fun as well! I wish you both lots of love and happiness for the future.

Below are are few of my favorite images from Robyn and David’s wedding day. Check out their on-line album to see more pics from the day.

Cairns Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Kellie and Andrew on the 4th September 2010

Friday, September 17th, 2010

I first met Kellie at the Colonial Club wedding Expo last year and she has kept in touch over the time until her wedding. This was a really great way to help me get to know Kellie and what she really wanted from her wedding photography.

The weather on the day was a bit yucky in the morning with showers all over the place. Everyone had their fingers crossed and Kellie gave the decision on whether to have the ceremony indoors to her brother, Ben. Ben made the right call as the the rain stayed away for the ceremony and it was held in the Gazebo at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort at 3pm!

When I arrived at the Resort and Kellie’s room, the girls were all dressed and ready to go! Good girls! This gave us plenty of time to take some nice relaxed photos. Kellie’s Mum and Dad arrived and we did some shots with them as well. I left Kellie and the girls at around 2.30 to go and see Andrew and the boys and take some photos of them.

Kellie arrived on time, looking radiant and happy! She was walked down the aisle by her proud Dad to her waiting husband to be! Wayne Rees performed the ceremony which took around 20 minutes. Kellie and Andrew completed the paperwork and then headed back down the aisle as husband and wife to the congratulations of their family and friends.

I gathered everyone together for a flower shower and group photos with the bride and groom. A great vantage point at the Colonial Club is from the balcony overlooking the gardens and gazebo.

This was followed by photos of family and friends with Kellie and Andrew. I then whisked them away for some romantic shots in the rainforest garden surrounding the gazebo. Then we all headed off into town for some photos at the library. I love the white walls and columns at the library. Luckily for us, the rain held off until we had finished at the library! It did however, start to bucket down once we were back inside the car!

We decided to head to The Pier to try to get some inside photos while it rained outside! We got some fantastic shots inside the Pier! By the time we had finished there, it had stopped raining. So, we drove down to the other end of the Marina for a walk along the Pier. By this time it was getting quite dark. We had choppers flying overhead very 5 minutes delivering punters from the Amateurs and the threat of rain, so we worked quickly! Just as it started to rain again, we made it to the cars and headed back to the reception at the Colonial Club.

The bridal party, followed by Kellie and Andrew made a grand entrance, dancing in to their favorite song! Kellie and Andrew cut their cake and were then served their dinner. I headed off about then and left them to their celebrations.

I really enjoyed your wedding Kellie and Andrew, thank you for asking me to be your photographer!

Below are some of my favorites from the day. You can see the rest of my favorites at their on-line album.

Palm Cove wedding photography – The Wedding of Jemma and Brad on the 11th September 2010

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Jemma and Brad and their 2 year old son Archie, were joined by family and friends from NSW for their wedding on Palm Cove beach  at 3pm last Saturday. The weather was perfect with a big blue sky and just a slight breeze to keep everyone nice cool! About time we got some good weather!

David and Fran from Palm Cove Weddings organised most of the wedding for Jemma and Brad. A lovely ceremony was performed by Gayle Dean. Archie was not as impressed with the ceremony as everyone else and so went for a walk, supervised by one of the guests, to check out the ocean!

After the ceremony we gathered all the guests for a group photo with Jemma and Brad with Double Island in the background. We then took some photos of Brad and Jemma with their families and friends before heading off down the beach to take some bridal party photos. We did some rock climbing and wave dodging and finished off with a nice walk along the water line.

Jemma and Brad were then joined by their guests to celebrate their marriage at The Casmar on The Esplanade at Palm Cove.

Below are a few of my favorite images from the day. You can view Jemma and Brad’s on-line album if you would like to see some more of their images.

Port Douglas wedding photography- The Wedding of Trinity and David on 28th August 2010

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Trinity and David had their ceremony at the Sea Temple Golf course in Port Douglas. What a great location! Lots of green everywhere!  The weather was kind to us as well! It had been raining earlier in the morning, but cleared up by lunchtime.

I arrived at 2.30, half an hour before the planned 3pm ceremony, to take some photos of David and the groomsmen awaiting the arrival of his bride.

Caroline, the wedding co-ordinator from the Sea Temple Resort and I met Trinity and the girls at the cub house entrance shortly after 3pm. Family and friends watched Trinity walk down the aisle on the arm of her Dad, who shared a joke with David as he passed his daughters hand to David to take in marriage.

A really lovely ceremony was performed by Kerrie Burkin, including a sand ceremony and a reading by David’s sister. After the ceremony the paper work was filled out, making David and Trinity’s marriage official! Kerrie introduced them as Mr and Mrs which was met with loud applause and plenty of hugs and kisses!

We gathered all of the guests around Trinity and David for a group photo and flower shower, followed by photos of Trinity and David with their family and friends. The formalities over, we warmed up the photo session with a walk along the path leading away from the first hole! There were a few golfers out, so we had to dodge speeding buggies and frantic players trying to get to the club house!

The landscaping is fantastic and includes a small rainforest pocket with a lovely timber boardwalk inside. We got some great shots inside there!

From the golf course we headed down to the sugar wharf in town to take some photos at the small beach near the Chapel and on the actual wharf. A wedding reception was set up at the far end of the wharf, so we could only use part of it. The white timber wall is very cool for photos! By the time we finished it was almost dark and time for Trinity and David and the bridal party to head back to the reception at the Sea Temple Resort.

I enjoyed being part of your special day Trinity and David, thank you for asking me! I wish you all the best for a happy life together!

Below are some of my favorite shots from the day. Check out Trinity and David’s on-line album to view all of their wedding photos.

Cairns Wedding Photography – The Wedding of Cassandra and Bertalan on 21st August 2010

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Cassandra and the girls got ready at Bert’s parents beautiful property at Redlynch. When I arrived the ladies from Cairns Wedding Make-up were just finishing off Cassandra’s make-up. The bridesmaids were good girls and all dressed and ready to go when I arrived! I took some photos of Cassandra’s gorgeous dress hanging on the door,  then her shoes, flowers and special jewellery. We then got stuck into the photo shoot. The girls helped Cass into her dress and with some quick sewing repairs she was ready in no time and looking absolutely stunning!

August the 21st was voting day for the federal election! Of course, we had to stop off at the poling booth for Cassandra to vote! Luckily there wasn’t a long line and we were straight in and out….phew!

The bridal car was a fully restored 1932 model Ford….very cool and very shiny!

I drove to the Botanic Gardens where the ceremony was being held. Bert and the boys were there mingling amongst the wedding guests. I took them aside for some quick photos before Cass and the girls arrived at 3pm.

Cassandra walked to the start of the red carpet on the arm of her Mum, Marion and was met at the carpet by her brother, who walked her the rest of the way to meet Bert. The red carpet resembled a work site with stop and go signs operated by cute little boys directing the traffic! A lovely ceremony was performed by Aphrodite Anderson and lasted around half an hour. After the ceremony Cass and Bert signed the paperwork then Aphrodite introduced them as Mr and Mrs!

We gathered all of the guests for a big group photo with the bride and groom This was followed by family and friends photos.

The Botanic Gardens is a great location for photos with lots of wonderful greenery, big trees and benches to sit on. We moved on from there back to Bert’s parents place. Bert’s Dad has restored several motorcycles and cars. He dragged 5 shiny and sparkling bikes out of the shed for the boys to sit on for photos.

From there it was a rush to continue on to the reception, via a paddock on the way for some photos before it got dark!

The reception was held at the AJ Hacket Bungee site in the rainforest at Smithfield. We did a cake cutting photo before the guests arrived, then I left the bridal party to enjoy an evening of fun and celebration.

I had a great day Cassandra and Bert, thank you for asking me to be your photographer! You are both very easy to photograph!

Below are some of my favorite images from the day. You can view Cassandra and Bert’s on-line album to see some more!
