Hot Air Balloon Wedding Cairns – The Wedding of Denise & Luke on 1st June 2010

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Denise and Luke came from Mt Isa to be married in a lovely intimate ceremony in a hot air balloon 4500 feet above the earth! How romantic!

My day started with a 3.15 am wake-up! I think Denise and Luke were up at around the same time for Denise to have her hair and make-up done by Cairns Wedding Make-up.

I met Wayne, the celebrant at Mareeba at 4.30am where we picked up by the HOT AIR balloon crew at 4.45am. We drove out to a site with the crew and pilots where they checked wind direction and speed to determine where they would launch the balloons from that morning.

Denise and Luke arrived by luxury limo at around 6am. We watched the balloons being inflated and take-off. Once our balloon was inflated we boarded and prepared for take-off!

The flight was for an hour and Wayne performed the ceremony in the last half an hour as we floated 4500 feet above the Atherton Tablelands. The skies were blue and the air was smooth. To the North there were wispy white clouds kissing the landscape.

When we landed Denise and Luke were now married! Hooray! While the crew packed up the balloon, Wayne prepared the paperwork for them to sign, with Bob (the driver)  and Ben (the pilot) acting as witnesses. Ben cracked the champagne to celebrate, telling us the legend of champagne and hot air balloons. Apparently, when farmers saw the first balloon land in their paddocks they thought it was the devil. They rushed out and set fire to the balloon, destroying it completely! From then on future balloon flights always offer champagne to farmers! ( I guess the devil would not arrive bearing gifts of French champagne!)

I took some photos of Denise and Luke in the gorgeous morning light in the landing paddock before we all headed down to Palm Cove for a few more photos on the beach before a delicious breakfast at the Sebel Reef House.

Thanks for asking me to be your photographer Denise and Luke! It was heaps of fun! I never miss an opportunity to get in the air! I wish you lots of happiness for the future!

Below are a couple of images from the morning.

What an amazing 2 days!

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Here I am at work again! I have just spent an amazing 2 days with the lovely Alena and her handsome husband, Berto!

Berto and Alena had their ceremony at Angsana yesterday with lots of surprises! Today I met them again for a Trash the Dress session in a beautiful rainforest creek near Port Douglas.

Bradley from Skysafari took this photo of me with Alena and Berto on a deserted sand Cay on the Great Barrier Reef yesterday. Stay tuned for Berto and Alena’s wedding and Trash the Dress photos coming up soon!

Cairns Wedding Photography – The wedding of Sarah and Ashley on 22nd May 2010

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Sarah and Ashley were married at the picturesque Great Barrier Reef Chapel at Edge Hill.

Sarah was the first bride in ages to arrive early! Only 10 minutes. Sarah and their daughter Paris, arrived in style…a 1960′s restored Buick Riviera. Very cool!

A lovely ceremony was performed by Barbie Anderson. Paris did a great job of delivering the rings very carefully and safely!

After the ceremony Sarah and Ashley joined their guests in the courtyard outside for champagne and photos!

I couldn’t resist taking some photos of Sarah and Ashley in front of the chapel before we headed down to  The Pier for some waterside shots. A half hour wander around the Esplanade and out to the Pier and we were all done in time for Sarah and Ashley to join their guests at Salt restaurant for their reception.

Thank you for having me as your photographer Sarah and Ashley! Below are some of my favs from the day. You can check out more of Sarah and Ashley’s photos at their on-line album.
