Cairns Trash the Dress with Hayley & Justin

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Hayley and Justin were married at Palm Cove in September last year. When they booked their wedding photography they took advantage of our special offer to include Trash the Dress.

We had the best time doing photos at their wedding, so I knew that a Trash session with these guys would be heaps of fun! Since the wedding Hayley and Justin have moved away from Cairns. They chose last weekend to come back for their Trash session. They could not have had better timing! The weather was just perfect with big blue skies and not much wind.

We met at 9am, then traveled in convoy via a very bumpy dirt road to our waterfall location.

My friend Dee came along for the walk and to shoot some video. So standby for the video a bit later!

A 20 minute hike up to the water fall lookout got us all hot and sweaty! Hayley and Justin changed into their wedding clothes in the alfresco change room and off we went!

Hayley and Justin were game for anything which made my job heaps easier! We explored around the waterfall, creek and forest using different back drops. I love the texture of the huge basalt rocks we used for back grounds! Finally, we ended up at the second pool below the waterfall. By the time I had worked Hayley and Justin up into a sweat climbing over, up and down rocks, they were so ready to jump into the cool, crystal clear water!

The water flows over a rock ledge to the bottom pool giving the appearance of a natural wet edge pool. Hayley and Justin swam over to the edge and stood on top of it. My favorite photo is of Hayley standing on her own on the edge of the pool.

Once the photo shoot was over we all jumped in to cool off and enjoy the scenery surrounding us.

Below are a few of my favs from the day, you can see more of Trash the Dress with Hayley and Justin at their on-line album.

Wedding Chapel at Palm Cove

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Over the next few months I am attempting to spotlight some wedding services that I have experienced in and around Cairns, Port Douglas and the Tablelands.

I hope these posts will help brides and grooms with the planning of their special day.

So, my first post is about a lovely little wedding chapel nestled at the base of the hill, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, within the grounds of Cairns Tropical Zoo at Palm Cove.

For information regarding the Chapel check out the Cairns Tropical Zoo’s website.

Below are some images I shot at the Chapel on the weekend, you can view more images at the gallery.
