The Wedding of Tracey and Robin on 19th June 2009

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Tracey and Robin came all the way from New Zealand to be married here in Cairns at the Cairns Court House. The ceremony was short and sweet, then we headed down to the Botanic Gardens.

The lush tropical surrounds of the gardens are a nice contrast from where Tracey and Robin live in New Zealand.

Congratulations on your marriage Tracey and Robin and thank you for asking me to be part of your special day.

Here are a couple of my favorites. Go to their on-line album to view Tracey and Robin’s entire wedding album.

The Wedding of Emma and David on 5th June 2009

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Emma and David were married on the beach at Palm Cove at 2pm. Friends and family traveled from as far as the UK and New Zealand to share this special day with them.

The weather was perfect and the ceremony, performed by Wayne Rees, was wonderful.

After the ceremony I took a group photo of all the guests on the beach, some family and friends photos and then we headed down to the the jetty for some more photos with the bridal party.

A walk along the beach and a scramble over the rocks netted some great shots before we returned to the Sebel Reef House where Emma and David enjoyed their reception.

Congratulations David and Emma! You two SHOULD be married! I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your wedding, thank you for asking me! I wish you all the best for a long, happy future together.

Below are a couple of my favorites from the day. You can view David and Emma’s on-line album to see more of their photos.

Can I be a chopper pilot?

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Last Friday Kay, the celebrant from Cairns Weddings, and I had the great pleasure of attending the wedding of Irene and Amadeus from Hong Kong on Vlassoff Cay.

I have decided that with all the chopper time I have been doing lately I must not be far off getting my license! (I wish!)

The Wedding of Irene and Amadeus on 5th June 2009

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Irene and Amadeus’ wedding was a nice surprise for me as they only booked the day before!

Family and friends of Amadeus and Irene traveled from Hong Kong to witness their  marriage on a deserted sand cay in the middle of the World heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.

Irene looked absolutely stunning in her white wedding dress trimmed with a cute little pink bow! Amadeus looked quite handsome too in his shirt and pants!

Whie we were waiting for our transfer to the Cay I took some photos of Irene and Amadeus with the old DC-3 aircraft parked near the GBR hangar. I love the old fashioned look of the photos with the plane!

Two helicopters from GBR Helicopters flown by Tim and Mick, transferred the wedding party, including myself and Kay Earl from Cairns Weddings, out to the Cay at 8.30am.

It was a glorious day to be married! A slight breeze, warm sunshine and a low tide.

Amadeus played his violin as Irene was walked by her parents to the place where they were to be married. Friends played the guitar and sang. What a wonderful serenade to enjoy all the way out there!

After the ceremony was over I took lots of photos of family and friends with the bride and groom. Once again I impressed everyone with my extensive language skills by counting to three in Mandarin! Which is about the number of minutes I would last in China using my extensive language skills!

Before departing for Cairns Mick took me up in the chopper for a couple of orbits above the Island to get some aerial shots. Amadeus and Irene’s friends had drawn a big heart in the sand for them to stand in for the photos!

Too many favorites, but here are just a few! Check out their on-line album for some more photos.

The Wedding of Sara and Brian on 2nd June 2009

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Sara and Brian were married at the luxurious Thala Beach Lodge near Port Douglas.

A romantic ceremony with just the two of them. The ceremony was performed by Joanne Male from Weddings Cairns

After the ceremony we took some photos on the beach and then a short scramble around the rocks. Angie, the wedding co-ordinator at Thala, then drove us around the resort on her zippy little golf buggy! We took some more shots in the Palm Tree grove then Angie delivered us safely back to the main area of the Resort. A quick photo on the magnificent stair case, then I left Sara and Brain to enjoy their wedding dinner at the Osprey Restaurant. The view from which is unmatched by any restaurant in the area with uninterrupted views way out to sea!

Below are a few of my favorite photos from the day, you can also view Sara and Brian’s on-line album.

The Wedding of Heidi and Simon on 30th May 2009

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Family and friends gathered poolside at the Rydges Esplanade Hotel to join Heidi and Simon on their wedding day.

The ceremony was performed by Elaine Charlton and included a butterfly release to remember family who could not be there.

A group photo , followed by friends and family photos and then some bridal party shots around the pool. After that we made our way over to the Esplanade for some more photos of Heidi and Simon on the beach.

Thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding Heidi and Simon, it was a pleasure!

The Wedding of Tina and Bobby on 25th May 2009

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Tina and Bobby came all the way from Las Vegas to be married on a sand cay on the World heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. The weather for this once in a life time day was perfect, with a slight breeze and clear skies.

Skysafari Helicopters pilot Jacinta transferred Bobby, Vivian Reid, the celebrant and Colin from MOD Videos, to Undine Cay in one of their bright yellow R44 choppers to await the arrival of Tina.

Tina, Angie from Dynamic Weddings and I were flown to the Cay by Bradley, in another yellow chopper to rendezvous with the others.

Vivian performed a lovely ceremony which included Tina and Bobby reading really romantic vows to each that that they had written themselves.

After the ceremony I took some photos of Bobby and Tina enjoying this stunning location. In the meantime, Bradley and Jacinta set up a delicious lunch on picnic blankets under some brightly coloured umbrellas.

All too soon it was time to leave. Jacinta returned to Port Douglas with Colin, Vivian and Angie on board. Bradley flew Tina, Bobby and myself back to the coast for a taste of the outback. We flew directly west to the coast, past Cow Bay and up over the Daintree River, spotting crocodiles along the way.

Bradley skillfully landed the chopper on a big granite rock next to a fast flowing, clear water river surrounded by tall eucalyptus and paper bark trees.

Another photo shoot on the rocks and surrounding area then it was time to head back to base where I left Tina and Bobby to be delivered to a Port Douglas restaurant for their wedding dinner.

Thank you to Tina and Bobby for asking me to share in your special day. I really enjoyed capturing every moment of it. I’m sure you will have a long and happy future together.

Below are some of my favorite images from the day. Actually, there are lots of favorites but I had to choose just a few! You can view more images at their on-line album and MOD video have kindly sent me a link to the Highlights from the day video…check it out, it’s very cool!

A stunning location!

Who would have guessed Bradley is an artist as well as a pilot?
